With the addition of new faculty members and continued academic
growth at the Warner School, several new courses have been
developed and are being offered on the doctoral level. In
an effort to help doctoral students learn more about the many
class options available, I would like to invite you to learn
more about Warner’s course offerings for doctoral students
during an Open House on Friday, November 14, from 4 p.m. to
6 p.m. in Dewey Hall 1-305.
This Open House will provide the opportunity for students
interested in enrolling in new or previously offered doctoral
courses to learn more about the content and structure of specific
courses, as well as talk to the professors who teach them.
Participation is designed to familiarize doctoral students
with specific courses in preparation for Spring 2004 registration.
Students are encouraged to attend the entire Open House
and take advantage of this opportunity to find out more about
courses that match their personal and professional interests.
The format will be interactive, with the goal of facilitating
discussion and answering questions. The two hours will include:
- review and small group discussion (by program area) of
major changes in the doctoral programs
- panel presentations by faculty to introduce new course
offerings
- question and answer time for students to learn more about
specific courses
Specific courses that will be featured include:
- EDU 549—Contemporary Learning Theories (French)
- ED 516—Designing and Evaluating Professional Development
(Fonzi)
- ED 588—Doctoral Seminar: Pop Culture and Education—Critical
Literacy
for New Times (Low)
- EDU 515—Decision-Making for Educational Leaders
I: Analyzing Problems in Schools and Universities (Brent)
- EDU 526—Theory and Research on Curriculum and Change

The faculty and administration are excited about the opportunity
to continue to expand Warner’s courses selection. I
hope you will join us for this event, and enjoy both the conversation
about doctoral courses and the refreshments that will be provided.
