The 2003 conference of the National Association of Counselor
Educators and Supervisors was held in Canandaigua, N.Y. in
October. Kathryn Douthit,
assistant professor, counseling and human development, was
the site coordinator, and many Warner faculty and students
presented at the conference.
- Douthit, Patricia Goodspeed `00, and Karen
Mackie, assistant professor, counseling and human development,
presented "The Pedagogy of Social Action: Training
for Systems Intervention."
- Doctoral student Malathi Rangan and Douthit presented
"Considering ADHD as a Case Study."
- Douthit also presented "Integrating the Revolution
in Psychiatric Genetics into Counseling Curriculum."
- Doctoral student Derek Seward and master's students Jon
Conteh, Tracey Williams, and Fabian Drain presented "Challenging
Students and Counselor in Multicultural Training."
- Doctoral student Akhtar Ghassemi presented "Liberation
Psychotherapy: Applications for Career Counseling."
- Doctoral student Ann White presented "Career Development
through Personal Narrative."
- Doug Guiffrida,
assistant professor, counseling and human development, presented
"A Constructive Framework for Teaching Counseling Theories."
- Howard Kirschenbaum,
associate professor and chair, counseling and human development,
and doctoral student Steven Demanchick presented "A
Person-Centered Approach to Resolving World Conflict: Carl
Rogers on Video."
- Jerry Rubenstein, part-time faculty, conducted a post-conference
workshop titled: "Somatic Education: Using our Body
of Experience to Find Our Way."
