Brent Named Interim Associate Dean
Brian Brent, associate professor, has been named interim associate dean of graduate studies while Craig Barclay, associate dean of graduate studies, is on leave.

Curry Presents Paper
In July, Mary Jane Curry, assistant professor, presented the paper, "English as the medium of scholarly publishing: `Literacy brokers' and the writings of scholars in eastern and southern Europe" at the conference on Globalization and World Englishes: Identity and Creativity, in Syracuse, NY.

Warner Word Wins Award for Excellence

The Warner Word took the Award for Excellence at the 2004 Public Relations Society of America PRism Awards event held in June. The Word competed in the category of not-for-profit newsletter.

Hursh Publishes Article
David Hursh, associate professor, co-wrote the article "No child left behind: The federal government's attack on equality and public education," published in the summer 2004 issue of Rouge Forum News. The article can be found online at www.pipeline.com/~rougeforum/Newspaper/Summer2004/NoChildLeftBehind.htm. Hursh will be on sabbatical through the fall semester.

Weaver Assumes School Board Presidency, Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Edwardine Weaver, RSM, assistant professor, assumed the presidency of the Monroe County Catholic School Board on July 1. In addition, Weaver celebrated her 50th Anniversary as a Sister of Mercy.

James-Wilson Receives Service Award
For the second year running, Sonia James-Wilson, assistant professor, received the Betty Pool Service Award at the Warner School commencement exercises in May. The award was established to recognize faculty members who have provided outstanding service to the School and its students.

Peterson Named Visiting Assistant Professor
Warner doctoral student Shira Peterson has been named a visiting assistant professor. Peterson will be teaching classes in literacy and in human development, beginning this semester.

Low, Wischnowski Leave Warner
Bronwen Low, assistant professor, has accepted a faculty position at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and has resigned her position at the Warner School.

Mike Wischnowski, assistant professor, has also left Warner and has accepted a faculty position at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Staff Members Join Warner

Kristine Starken, who most recently worked at the Simon School, is the dean's office secretary.

Lisa Ricotta is the assistant director of admissions. Previously, Ricotta was coordinator of international students at Genesee Community College.

Edward Morgan joins Warner as a bookkeeper. He has held several accounting positions at companies in the Rochester area.

Christopher Nardi, who previously worked in University Parking Services, will provide technical support at Warner.

Preston Faulkner is the associate director for individual giving. Previously, he founded and directed his own business.
