Curry Receives Betty Pool Award
Mary Jane Curry, assistant professor, received the Betty Pool Service Award in May. The award was established to recognize Warner faculty members who have provided outstanding service to the School and its students.

Judi Fonzi and Jerry Rubenstein each have been promoted to associate professor.

Hursh Appointed to Board, Presents Papers
David Hursh, associate professor, was appointed to two editorial boards: Policy Futures in Education, and the American Educational Research Journal’s Section on Social and Institutional Analysis. In addition, Hursh co-presented “Examining the Past; Imagining the Future: Using Autobiography to Examine Class, Race, Gender and Disability in Education,” at the Working Class Academics Conference, Ithaca, NY in July; and presented “Defending Public Education: Responding to the Attack on Public Education and the Push for High-Stakes Testing and Privatization,” at the First International Symposium on Urban Education and Intercultural
Learning at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY in April.
Lewis Accepts PRSA Award for Excellence
Aimee Lewis, assistant director for communications, accepted the 2005 Public Relations Society of America (Rochester Chapter) Award for Excellence for the Warner Educator. The Educator competed in the most improved element category.
Mackie Presents Papers, Accepts Award
Karen Mackie, instructor, presented “Keeping Faith: The Negotiated Professionalism of Counsellors in Higher Education Work Contexts” to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Research Conference in Nottingham, England. In addition, Mackie received an award from Sage Publications for her presentation at the same conference last year. Mackie also co-presented “Proactive Communication with Your School Board: Making the Case for Comprehensive Student Support” at the Education Trust’s Sixth Annual School Counseling Summer Academy in June.
Uebbing Elected to Board, Presents
Stephen Uebbing, adjunct faculty, was elected to the Board of the Rochester Museum and Science Center in May. Uebbing also presented to aspiring superintendents at the New York State Council of New Superintendents in May. Uebbing, currently superintendent of the Canandaigua City School District, begins a full-time appointment at Warner in 2006-07.
