President Seligman Holds Town Meeting with Students

Nearly 70 Warner students met President Joel Seligman at a Town Meeting in November to talk about the University’s strategic planning process and answer questions.

Students shared their requests for University-provided email accounts, more spacious and modern facilities, and additional classrooms equipped with computers, projectors, and audio/visual equipment.

Seligman discussed these and other issues and explained that they would be examined in the strategic planning process currently underway with him and Raffaella Borasi, dean.

Many of the questions also concerned the issue of University centralization versus decentralization. Seligman explained that he is looking to create a sense of community across the entire University, as well as capitalize on the cost efficiency of a centralized organization, while at the same time, allow for the needs of specialized knowledge within the various schools.

Seligman plans to hold meetings with students at least once a semester, in different formats, and he is planning a follow up meeting in March 2006.
