Hochreiter Presents at Conference, Facilitates at Symposium
Joseph Hochreiter, a doctoral student in educational leadership presented “Student Support Systems Handbook” at the 13th Annual Model Schools Conference in Nashville, Tenn. in June, and “Building Connections Between Middle and High Schools” at the first Secondary Model Schools Conference in Seattle, Wash. in July. In addition, he facilitated workshops at the High School Reinvention Symposium in Washington, D.C. in October. Hochreiter is currently the principal at Dansville High School.
Walker-Sharpe Presents Paper
Makini Walker-Sharpe, a doctoral student in teaching and curriculum, presented the paper “Acknowledgeing Race(ism)”, which was co-written with doctoral student Shaza Khan, at the annual meeting of the College and University Faculty Assembly of the National Council for the Social Studies in Kansas City, Mo. in November.
Abas Presents at Conference, is Highlighted in Article
Doctoral student Peter Abas, counseling and human development, presented the workshop “Counseling Asian American Students: Challenges and Opportunities” at the New York State School Counselor Association Conference in Rochester in November. In addition, Abas was highlighted in the article “Gathering Keys on Cultures” in the November 2 issue of the Catholic Courier.
Jones Accepts Position at Roberts Wesleyan
Joseph Jones, a doctoral student in teaching and curriculum, has recently accepted the position of assistant professor and director of the learning center at Roberts Wesleyan College.
Mominey Appointed Assistant Superindendent
Chris Mominey, educational leadership, has recenly been appointed assistant superindendent of the Diocese of Syracuse.
Wilson Named Assistant Principal
Nancy Wilson, educational leadership, has been named assistant principal at Rome Catholic Academy, in Rome, N.Y.
Master’s Students Attend Convention
Aaron Anderson, Lisa Conezio, Sara Mangan, Robert Matos, and Kelly Peca, master’s students in teaching and curriculum, attended the National Council of Teachers of English annual convention in Pittsburgh, Pa., in November.
Matinez Presented Volunteer Education Award
Amarilys Martinez, a master’s student in teaching and curriculum, received the volunteer education award at “Celebrating Hispanic Culture Through the Eyes of Our Youth,” a program which recognizes Hispanic scholars from city high schools.
