Gatto Receives Disney Teacher Award
Doctoral candidate Lynn Gatto was selected as a recipient for the Disney Teacher Award. The Disney Teacher Award honors extraordinary teachers who find creative ways to stimulate curiosity, engage the imagination, and pass the joy of learning on to each and every student. Gatto was one of 44 teachers across all K-12 disciplines recognized for her services.

Faculty and Students Present at NARACES Conference
Several counseling faculty and students were presenters at the North Atlantic Region Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (NARACES) in Lake George, N.Y. in October. Assistant Professors Karen Mackie and Kathryn Douthit, and doctoral student Peter Abas co-presented “Again and Opportunity: New Trails to Blaze in Gerontological Counselor Education.” Doug Guiffrida, assistant professor and doctoral students Lyn Spiegel and Elizabeth Russell presented “A Constructivist Approach for Supervising School Counseling Students.”

Henderson, Mosman, and Hursh Present at Conference
Joe Henderson ‘06 (M.S.), master’s student Honora Mosman, and David Hursh, associate professor, presented “Examining the Past; Imagining the Future: Using Autobiography to Examine Class, Race, Gender and Disability in Education,” at the 10th Anniversary Celebration Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education, at SUNY Geneseo in October.

Warner Alumnus Featured in Democrat and Chronicle
Warner alumnus, Daniel J. DeMarle ‘05 (Ph.D.) published the essay “Family Counsel: Defiant children” in the Nov.2 issue of the Democrat and Chronicle. The article analyzes the significant behavior problems of children with oppositional defiant disorder, a mental health condition.
