Blokhuis Presentation Featured at 2007 ATE Conference
Jason Blokhuis, doctoral student, co-authored “Using Movies in Teacher Education: Practical, Pedagogical, and Philosophical Considerations,” which was presented at the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. Designed as a professional development clinic, the presentation provided opportunities for participants to view video clips and discuss ethical and pedagogical issues associated with the use of Hollywood movies in teacher education courses.
McDell Featured as Emerging African-American Leader
Debora McDell, master’s student in teaching and curriculum, was featured as one of Rochester’s emerging African-American leaders in the February 11 edition of the Democrat and Chronicle. McDell is the coordinator of community programs and outreach at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester.
D’Aoust Comments on Simulator Use at UR
Rita D’Aoust, doctoral student, was quoted in the Democrat and Chronicle article “Simulations Test Medical Nursing Students at UR” on February 20. D’Aoust, director of the Center for Education and Simulator Technology, was interviewed on the benefits of simulators to educate and train medical students to work together in teams.
Higher Education Students Form Organization
Students from the higher education administration program have formed the “Higher Education Student Association” (HESA) with the goal of building a community within the program. The group’s mission is to help students develop professionally and academically, network with fellow students and faculty, create a broader awareness of the higher education program locally and nationally, and continue to promote the Warner School’s overall mission.
