Jennifer King and Katy Allen, both doctoral students at the Warner School, will present the talk “Making Connections Between Domestic Violence and School Bullying: How Our Children Are Being Affected and What Our Schools Are Doing About It” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, October 15, at Nazareth College.
Join them as they explore the effects of domestic violence on children, highlighting their potentially increased involvement in bullying activities at school, either as bullies, victims, or bully-victims. They will consider the similar characteristics of abusive adults and child bullies, making a case for the importance of addressing bullying in our schools as a means of domestic violence prevention and awareness. Pertinent actions of local school districts, related to this topic, will be incorporated into their presentation.
Allen, who is the owner of Impact Training, Inc. (www.impacttraining.com), and King, who is a survivor of domestic violence, will present this program as a result of their collaborative doctoral studies and common concerns. The presentation, which is sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), is free and open to the public. The event will be held in the Golisano Academic Center, Room 375, at Nazareth College.
