ED 506 Concepts and Issues in Social Science Research

Nancy Ares, assistant professor, and her students in ED 506 Concepts and Issues in Social Science Research, invite you to attend their end-of-semester research proposal presentations. Doctoral students from all departments in the Warner School will be presenting their semester-long projects.

A variety of research topics and designs are featured, including studies of collaborative relationships among teachers in arts-based practice, relationships between African American students’ racial identity development and their satisfaction with college, teachers’ writing instruction strategies in inquiry-based science classes, connections between districts’ hiring practices and teacher retention, teachers’ perceptions of NCLB and locus of control of their practice, the effects of reading strategy instruction on 4th graders’ reading comprehension and science learning, and zero-tolerance discipline policies and suspension of students of color.
