Nancy Ares, assistant professor, and her students in ED 506 Concepts and Issues in Social Science Research, invite you to attend their end-of-semester research proposal presentations. Doctoral students from all departments in the Warner School will be presenting their semester-long projects.

A variety of research topics and designs are featured:

  • A bilingual/bicultural approach to deaf children’s literacy learning
  • Supervisors’ support of reflective practice in K-12 teaching
  • Critical literacy and secondary students’ sociopolitical awareness
  • Mentoring students’ transitions from middle to high school
  • Disenfranchised students and school culture
  • Inclusion and inquiry-based mathematics education
  • Universities’ support of the academic success of student athletes
  • Barriers to strong home-school connections with families living in poverty
  • The presence and impact of a digital divide in the Warner School
