"Leading Change in Urban Districts – The Rochester City School District’s Strategic Plan"
Manuel Rivera, Rochester City School District Superintendent
October 26, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Great Hall of Rush Rhees Library

All Urban Teaching and Leadership Program (UTL) Forums are open to the public and free of charge, but registration is required. Please call (585) 275-9929 to confirm your attendance and for further information.

The UTL is a comprehensive approach to recruiting, preparing, and providing professional development for teachers and administrators in the Rochester City School District (RCSD) through programs offered at the Warner School.

UTL prepares educators to work in high needs urban schools and classrooms, and to build on research, innovative practice, and the expertise of mentors to help all students reach their fullest potential. The importance of collaboration between these constituents is emphasized in the work of the program, as is the need for educators to engage in social action for the improvement of public education.

The purpose of the UTL Forums is to provide a space to engage in a dialogue with students, district personnel, unions, teachers, administrators, community stakeholders and university faculty about education in the RCSD. They are also intended to encourage urban educators to think broadly about their roles and the goals that they should be striving to realize as educational leaders able to foster and respond to change while remaining focused on the promotion of student growth and learning.
