ED 506 Concepts and Issues in Social Science Research

Students in ED 506, Concepts and Issues in Social Science Research, and their instructors, Nancy Ares and Kevin O’Connor, invite you to their end-of-semester research proposal presentations.
A variety of research topics and designs are featured:
- Links between literacy and language development in kindergarten
- Functional Family Therapy and reductions in high school truancy
- Relations between bonding and limit-setting at home and at school
- Varied stakeholders’ views of school discipline in a challenging school
- Using clients’ healthy, less dominant stories in narrative therapy
- Access to incidental learning among deaf young adults
- The effects of timing of orientation program on college student retention
- The relation of students’ technological funds of knowledge to their strategies for science learning
- Processes involved in multicultural identity formation
- Instructional strategies of successful mathematics teachers in urban settings
- Teachers’ effective use of data to support student learning
