Klass Promoted at University of Chicago
Stephen Klass, M.S. ’94, higher education leadership
program, has been appointed vice president and dean
for student affairs at the University of Chicago, effective
October 1, 2002. Klass had formerly been associate vice
president and deputy dean of student affairs at the
university. He came to Chicago from the University of
Rochester where he had held several administrative positions
from 1988 to 1995.
“Steve’s vision and energy have made him
a key contributor to most of the important improvements
in student life at Chicago in recent years,” said
Don Randel, president of the University of Chicago.
Klass led the restructuring of the campus dining program;
greatly improved the campus transportation system; and
has chaired the steering committee that is guiding the
implementation of new student information systems.
