Klass Promoted at University of Chicago

Stephen Klass, M.S. ’94, higher education leadership program, has been appointed vice president and dean for student affairs at the University of Chicago, effective October 1, 2002. Klass had formerly been associate vice president and deputy dean of student affairs at the university. He came to Chicago from the University of Rochester where he had held several administrative positions from 1988 to 1995.

“Steve’s vision and energy have made him a key contributor to most of the important improvements in student life at Chicago in recent years,” said Don Randel, president of the University of Chicago. Klass led the restructuring of the campus dining program; greatly improved the campus transportation system; and has chaired the steering committee that is guiding the implementation of new student information systems.
