Summer Scholars Program Offered

The Warner Center for Professional Development and Education Reform presents the "Summer Scholars" Program, scheduled for July 21 through August 1. The program, formerly "Teacher as Scholar," offers educators state-of-the-art approaches to researching and sharing timely and important topics with colleagues, parents, and the community.

Rusti Berent, adjunct lecturer at the Warner School, and Kathleen McGowan, reference librarian, Rush Rhees Library, are facilitating the 10-day program. In addition to attending formal sessions, participants will also have time to collaborate with other educators,work individually to focus on specific topics, and become practiced at using library, Internet, and community resources.

Institute on Catholic Education Planned

The 14th Annual Institute on Catholic Education: Touching Hearts, Changing Lives, has been scheduled for July 7 _ 8. The Institute, sponsored by the Warner School, will explore some of the central issues involved in forging the future and continued vibrancy of Catholic education.

The institute is designed for teachers, school administrators, youth ministers, catechists, clergy, board and committee members, parents, members of parish and civic communities, and all who have an interest in shaping the future of Catholic education for the 21st Century.
