Lindley Hosts Russian Delegation

A Russian delegation of 12 women visited Rochester for 10 days in early December to learn about how our society deals with domestic abuse. Bettie Lindley M.A. '65, coordinator of teacher education at the Warner School, and president of the Rochester Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), played a major role in coordinating the visit.

The delegates all live in the city of Lesnoy, located on the eastern slopes of the Middle Urals on the river Tura, and work in fields relating to law, education, government, and human services. While in Rochester, each delegate stayed with a host family and vistied various sites including Alternatives for Battered Women, the Al Sigil Center, and the Women's Hall of Fame Museum in Seneca Falls.

The visit culminated with a reception hosted by Bettie and others at the UUAW House on East Avenue.
