Third Church Head Start Demonstration Center is a delegate agency of Action for a Better Community, the local grantee for federal Head Start funds. Located in Third Presbyterian Church at 4 Meigs Street, Rochester, NY 14607, the program serves 36 low-income children and their families in two classrooms. Limited funding means that children attend only 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, and only during the academic calendar year (September - June). Third Presbyterian Church has provided generous financial support for the operation of the Head Start classrooms.

Third Church Head Start Demonstration Center serves as a site for the development, implementation, refinement, and dissemination of The Preschool Curriculum for the 21st Century.

Although The Preschool Curriculum for the 21st Century can be implemented with a variety of curricular approaches, the program at Third Church Head Start Demonstration Center emphasizes science instruction.

Staff and volunteers at Third Church Head Start Demonstration Center offer various forms of information for teachers and directors, including curriculum guides, materials, workshops, and a bibliography of science related literature for young children.

Staff and volunteer contributions to developing and disseminating the curriculum have been supplemented with funding from University of Rochester, First Federal Bank, Eastman Kodak Corporation, The Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation, Frontier Corporation, Science Linkages in the Community, and the Halcyon Foundation.
