Counseling & Human Development Master's Degrees


Master of Science (M.S.) in Human Development with a Concentration in Psychological Development (3 + 2 program for students entering as seniors at the University of Rochester)
(ISIS code: HD2)

This 45-hour, 3+2 program is designed to prepare you to enter highly competitive doctoral programs in education, psychology, and related fields. In addition to offering courses providing a broad understanding of issues in human development, this course of studies emphasizes extensive experience and training in research in psychological development. It is also designed to permit maximum flexibility to allow you to draw widely from the resources of the University to develop your area of interest and expertise.

Requirements

I. Master's Core
(9 credits)

II. Specialization Courses
(9 credits)

In consultation with their advisors, students may select from a wide array of human development courses offered throughout the university. The courses available through the Warner School include the following:

EDU 464 Child Development and Learning in Context (5 to 12
years)

III. Research Apprenticeship
(9 hours)

Field study experiences involve three apprenticeships on research projects directed by faculty or advanced doctoral students. No more than two apprenticeships may be served with the same sponsor.
