Master of Science (M.S.) in Administration with New York State School Building Leadership Certification and Specialization in Catholic or Other Private Schools

This program is designed for students interested in administrative positions in Catholic or other private schools, and who also want to obtain NYS school building leader certification and a Master's degree. Learn more about our Catholic School Leadership Specialization.
Pre-requisites: Some teaching, pupil service and/or administrative experience; (by graduation) permanent or professional certification in classroom teaching or pupil personnel service.

II. Core Courses for NYS Certification for School Building Level
(18 credits)
EDU 408 Law of Private Schools
EDU 409 Business Affairs in Private K-12 School Systems
EDU 422 Educational Leadership: Implications for the Twenty-First Century
EDU 423 Educational Management and Human Relations|
EDU 424 The Principal and Christian Concepts of Virtue (required only for students choosing the Catholic School Administration Specialization - others may substitute with an elective.)
Another course in educational leadership; could include one of the following:
EDU 418 Leadership in Education
EDU 469 Organizational Dynamics
EDU 407 Curricular and Instructional Leadership
Substitution of one of these courses may be possible with permission of advisor. III. Electives

IV. Administrative Internship (ED 498)
(6 credits)
