Highlights of the Doctoral Portfolio

What is it?
The Portfolio Evaluation is the first "checkpoint" in the doctoral program. It is intended to evaluate a student's progress and quality of academic writing and give early feedback.

When is a student ready for this milestone?
All Warner doctoral students need to submit their portfolio the first September after they have completed 18 credits as doctoral students at the Warner School.

What are the prerequisites?
In addition to the a minimum of 18 credits as a doctoral student, students also need to have completed ED 506 Concepts and Issues in Social Science Research (formerly titled Doctoral Research Methods) and at least one of the program doctoral core courses identified by their program. Students must also have a program of study on file.

What is submitted?
Students need to include a curriculum vitae, copy of approved program of study, a narrative statement, and two scholarly papers from past coursework (selected to demonstrate the skills identified in Part III of the Portfolio Evaluation Checklist)

When are materials submitted?
All portfolios are submitted only once a year--in late September.
