Teachers holding NYS Initial Teaching Certification in Elementary or Secondary Education interested in pursuing certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities in the same area of specialization (i.e., same subject(s) and grade levels) have two options:
a. An M.S. program - for those also seeking NYS professional certification in their original areas
b. A non-degree program - for those already holding NYS professional certification in their area and interested in pursuing the new certification with the minimum number of coursework and credits.

credit requirements, course sequences, and sample paths to
the degree for full- and part-time study) select one of the

Adolescence (grades 7-12)

NOTE: Teachers with certification at both the Middle Childhood and Adolescence levels may pursue certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities at both levels by following the program for Adolescence and completing an additional 50-hour Field Experience in Inclusive Settings at grades 5-6.
