If you already have NYS teaching certification in an area, but you are interested in obtaining certification in a different area (ex: your original certification is in Physics at grades 7-12, but you would also like to be able to teach Mathematics at grades 7-12), the Warner School offers you the opportunity to do so either as part of a Master’s degree program (which will also automatically enable you to obtain NYS Professional Teaching Certification in your original area, if needed) or through a non-degree certification-only program.
Most areas of certification (except for generalists in elementary education and specialists in reading) have some subject matter pre-requisites – to check whether you meet these pre-requisites for area you are interested in, see Pre-requisites for Teachers Seeking Additional Certifications.
