Programs for Current k-12 Special Education Teachers

If you already have obtained a NYS Professional Certification as a generalist to teach Special Education at Grades k-12 before 2004, there are a number of programs offered at the Warner School that will allow you to:

  1. obtain NYS Permanent Certification in your current area of specialization (as long as you complete these programs before 2011) AND/OR
  2. pursue additional teaching certifications and/or extensions.

You can learn more about all the options available to you from our Overview of Programs for Current Special Education Teachers.

Or you can directly check the program of study (including course and credit requirements, length of study, and sample course sequences for part- and full-time study) for a specific option from the list below. If you obtained Initial Certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities after 2001, please go back to Programs available to current teachers and select the area (i.e. grade level and/or subject matter) you have specialized in.

NOTE: All Master's programs listed here will enable you to obtain NYS Permanent Certification in your current area of certification - if needed- until 2011.
