Teaching & Curriculum Doctoral Degrees

The Warner School offers both a Ph.D. and Ed.D. in Teaching & Curriculum. Students are encouraged to explore both degree options, as well as learn about Research and Projects at the Warner School. The degree a student pursues will be a reflection of his or her postdoctoral goals and personal circumstances. Both require 90 credit hours of work and include the successful completion of a doctoral dissertation.

The Ph.D. in Education (with a concentration in Teaching, Curriculum, and Change) prepares students for the scholarly life of teaching and academic writing and research in college or university settings, research institutes, or government agencies.

The Ed.D. in Teaching & Curriculum is practitioner oriented. Career aspirations vary considerably in the Ed.D. program, including teachers who intend to continue teaching but who want to advance their learning and engage in thoughtful research, or who are interested in instructional leadership or teacher education opportunities. In addition to the K-12 population, the Ed.D. area of study serves professionals in a variety of careers including nurses and adult educators, community agency directors, corporate professional development trainers, and others involved in teaching and learning.
