Change of Degree within Program Area

To change from one degree to another (M.S. to M.A.T., Ed.D. to Ph.D., or Ph.D. to Ed.D.), students must apply during a regular admission cycle by submitting:

  • a formal letter of application discussing the rationale for the transfer and offering evidence of the capability to pursue the new degree
  • two letters of recommendation from Warner School faculty
  • a letter from an eligible Warner faculty member agreeing to serve as the advisor for the new program
  • a copy of the academic record thus far, and any other documentation that is required by the Program area in question

Applications to transfer into the Ph.D. may be made only during the February admission cycle.

To change from M.A.T. to M.S., students must telephone the Dean's Office (585-275-1009) and request the change.

No application fees are charged. Questions in this regard may be directed to the Department Chair or the Dean's Office.
