Welcome to the Warner School at the University of Rochester!
At the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and
Human Development, we are passionate about preparing practitioners
and scholars who are committed and driven to improve the human
condition by becoming leaders in education and human development.
Our students want to do more than acquire professional credentials.
They are men and women whose lifelong commitment is to inspire
minds, invigorate a profession, and provide thoughtful and
creative leadership. Graduates of our programs become leaders
in their schools and communities and answer our nation's call
for reform in their fields.
The Warner School is a professional school within a premier
research university. The University of Rochester is consistently
listed among the nation’s top-ranked research universities.
Our professors are engaged in a wide variety of educational
research, and Warner is recognized as a place where faculty
members generate the research-based theory that leads to new
understanding for practice and continued research.
Many of our students are deeply involved in this research
and our projects are designed to bring research-based curriculum
and practices into schools and community agencies. Increasing
numbers of doctoral students receive funding through the competitive
Scandling Scholars program or assistantships, and scholarships
are now available for the best and brightest master’s
students willing to serve our nation’s schools and educational
institutions.
Our understanding of the relationship between learning and
contexts, and the need for multidisciplinary approaches to
solve complex problems, are critical to reinvigorating the
educational process. Our master’s and doctoral degree
programs in teaching and curriculum, counseling and human
development, and educational leadership prepare educators
for a lifetime of growth and success in their field.
I invite you to explore our programs and learn how, together,
we can change the face of education today.
