The Warner Center is involved in outreach initiatives that
lead to the development of long-term relationships and sustainable
systemic reform. Outreach coordinators on the Warner Center
staff are deeply involved in programs and consultation with
local educators, schools, government agencies, and other organizations
who work with people in all stages of life.
A recent initiative includes working with a local school
district whose K-12 counselors have formed a Counselors’
Cabinet. This cabinet was created to explore and test leadership
initiatives related to implementing a comprehensive, student
development curriculum across the district. This ongoing consultation
between the district and the Warner Center supports the evolution
and implementation of a new model for school counseling, reflective
of national professional standards and district priorities
for student learning.
The Warner Center also collaborates with a local county initiative
to develop and evaluate training modules for school health,
social work, counseling and psychology personnel. A turn-key
training model is used to educate all school staff to better
respond to the acute and chronic needs of children who suffer
loss or trauma, so as to support health and learning in schools.
