The Eastman School of Music has begun work on a renovation and expansion project that
will complete George Eastman’s original vision of an integrated facility “for the enrichment
of community life.” Extending the existing Eastman Theatre, the new wing will include a
200-seat recital hall that will provide additional performance space for hundreds of concerts
each year. Renovations to improve the experience for concert patrons also are under
way, including expanding the lobby and improving acoustics inside the main performance
hall. Antonio Perez, chairman and CEO of the Eastman Kodak Company, announced in
April that Kodak is committing $10 million toward the project to renovate Eastman Theatre.
In recognition of the company’s commitment, the main performance hall will be
renamed Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.
