Coordination of Disability Resources

The coordinator for University Disability Resources reports to the Provost and is responsible for ensuring that the University's policy on accommodations for students, faculty, and staff with disabilities is implemented appropriately. The coordinator works with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and department heads to inform the University community about the policy, its procedures, and appropriate implementation.

The coordinator serves as a resource to local Disability Resource Coordinators. Local coordinators include representatives from each of the schools and colleges of the University. They are responsible for making arrangements for reasonable accommodations in educational and work settings.

The coordinator for University Disability Resources is available to all members of the University community to discuss concerns about disability related issues. In addition, the coordinator, often with the assistance of professionals in the community, can arrange for mobility instruction for those who are visually impaired, identify paths of travel for members of the community who use a wheelchair, and can provide maps of accessible routes on campus.

Anyone who would like to discuss the options and rights of individuals with disabilities or to learn about the University's responsibilities in this regard should make an appointment with Kathy Sweetland, Coordinator of University Disability Resources, at 275-5550, ksweet@admin.rochester.edu.
