Computer Equipment

Computer adaptations might include:

  • Enlarged print on screen
  • Flexibility of positions of monitor, keyboard, table top
  • Large-print keytop labels
  • Left & right handed keyboards
  • On-screen keyboard, including Morse Code (sip & puff)
  • Reverse screen to white on black print (light sensitive)
  • Speech synthesizer, speech analysis (voice command) and text-to-speech
  • Trackball
  • Visual output (screen blink) instead of sound output

Computing Facilities

There are many accessible computing facilities throughout the River Campus, in the residence halls, and in some academic buildings. The main student computing center is ITS (Information Technology Services), located on the ground floor of Rush Rhees Library. Hours of operation for this center vary throughout the year. Computing hardware and software problems can be resolved at ITS. Any need for adapted computer equipment should be brought to the attention of the ITS Help Desk, 275-2000.

At the Eastman School of Music, the main lab is located in Room 506. Students who need assistance with adapted equipment for computers should contact 274-1245.

At the Medical Center, accessible computing facilities are available at the Learning Center, Edward G. Miner Library, 275-6865.
