ACCESS Rochester
American Sign Language Interpreters
Providing sign language interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing
is a reasonable accommodation that enables individuals to effectively perform
and participate. Depending on the extent of disability, some individuals may
require limited interpreter services, while others will have a greater need.
The University contracts for sign language and oral interpreters through the
Office of Interpreter Services. The University's contract ensures high quality,
low cost services. Staff needing interpreter services should work with their
supervisors and make their needs known at least five days in advance.
