As we all know, the University of Rochester is a special place, and alumni near and far have memories of a favorite study nook in the stacks of Rush Rhees, an empty Kilbourn Hall before a recital, first dorm rooms, and other spaces that transport us back to our time beside the Genesee. More than the places, though, it's the people—students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends—who make our University truly shine. Though we’re geographically far from Rochester, the Yellowjacket connection has stayed with us, and we’re proud to continue building relationships with the University of Rochester community here in California. Recently, we hosted an Alumni in Entertainment Happy Hour in Culver City for both industry veterans and Hollywood newcomers, New Year celebrations at the Los Angeles Petersen Automotive Museum (pictured) and the Green Room at the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, and a Student Alumni Networking Event in Silicon Valley that offered local alumni the chance to meet with current undergraduates who were visiting alumni at tech firms all around the Bay Area. If you weren't able to make it, don't worry! From a robust calendar of events and activities, to networking and mentorship opportunities on The Meliora Collective, we invite you to make a resolution and join us in staying connected, learning something new, and letting your UR pride shine throughout the year. If you’re interested in getting involved as a volunteer to help plan or host events, serve as a career mentor, and more, please contact California's staff liaison, Cory Dagen '03 at corinne.dagen@rochester.edu. Wishing you an Ever Better 2019!
