I'd like to wish you a happy, healthy, and ever better 2019! This past year was filled with opportunities to network with fellow alumni, support current and future students, and give back to the University and our local community. In December, we celebrated the holidays at Intercontinental New York Barclay with President Richard Feldman, the smooth sounds of jazz from Eastman School of Music alumni performers, and more than 300 attendees. For me, a highlight from 2018 was celebrating my 35th Reunion at Meliora Weekend. My favorite memory was giving President Feldman a “tough act to follow” by delivering my “class gift rap” right before his presentation! I'm looking forward to an even more active and exciting year ahead, and I invite you to join me in attending an upcoming event, volunteering, or by making a gift to an area you are passionate about. I’m particularly excited about meeting another great group of future Yellowjackets through my work as an admissions volunteer. As part of my role on the Network Leadership Cabinet, I'm also focused on developing more activities for those of us "across the river" in New Jersey. I hope to see you in February, and at other upcoming events throughout the year. As always, we invite you to share your ideas for fun and meaningful ways to connect in the Metro New York City area. For more information on getting involved, please contact Metro New York City's staff liaison, Melissia Schmidt at melissia.schmidt@rochester.edu. Come learn something new and let your UR pride shine. The two don’t seem like they should coexist, but they somehow do."
