TROY, N.Y. - Top-seeded Rensselaer scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth and went on to an 8-6 victory over the University of Rochester in the Liberty League baseball championships.

RPI moves into a 4:30 pm game on Saturday against the loser of a winner's bracket game between Clarkson and Skidmore. The winner of the Clarkson-Skidmore game will play Sunday against the survivor of the 4:30 pm game for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

At 30-12, Rochester is in the Pool C possibilities in the New York Region. The 30 wins are a single-season record for the Yellowjackets.

Blair Veenema pitched the first 5.2 innings, giving up four runs. Rochester led, 1-0, and 3-1, before RPI got three to push ahead, 4-3. The Yellowjackets evened the score at 4-4 in the top of the eighth.

Rensselaer got a two-run double from Scott Robinson and a two-run home run from Tom Jebb to take an 8-4 lead in the eighth. Steve Guszki was charged with the loss. Rochester scored twice in the ninth - a sac fly by Casey Storme and an RBI single by Ryan Sullivan.
