Dobrzynski opened the scoring early in the second half after the two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first 35 minutes. With the second half less than two minutes old, Rochester’s Allison Beardsley brought the ball up the right wing past the Washington and Jefferson defense. Goalie Shelby Colyer came out to play Beardsley, who found a streaking Dobrzynski alone in front of the net.
Three minutes later, Dobrzynski struck again, this time set up by an Amanda Case penalty corner. Case fed Dobrzynski just outside the circle. The sophomore forward set her feet and fired a low shot past a diving Colyer to give the Yellowjackets a 2-0 advantage.
She capped her performance with a series of give-and-goes with teammate Allison Beardsley. The two worked the ball up the field, feeding one another with first touch passes, until Beardsley took the ball alone to the near post. Again Colyer came out to play the ball, and her pass back to Dobrzynski finished off a tremendous offensive performance.
Defensively, the Yellowjackets held Washington and Jefferson to just one second half shot. Goalie Danielle Pearson made six saves to earn the solo shutout.
Rochester out shot the Presidents 16-7 on the game and held a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners.
The team will return to action next weekend when they host Union College on Saturday at 4 pm in a pivotal Liberty League match up.
