Rochester capped off its field hockey season by shutting out the University at Brockport, 5-0, at Fauver Stadium on Tuesday evening.[read more]

Brittany O’Brien finished with two goals and two assists for the Thoroughbreds. Kemp had one goal and one assist. Elise Britt scored one goal. Casey Tang, and Lauren McCarthy) also had assists.
Amanda Case, Christi Bottcher , and Allison Beardsley scored the Rochester goals. Anna Dobrzynski and Bottcher had an assist each.
Liz Catinella made one save and allowed three goals for Skidmore. Danielle Pearson made seven saves for Rochester. Skidmore held a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 19-5 edge in penalty corners.
Skidmore is 12-3 overall, 6-1 in the Liberty League. The Thoroughbreds are tied for first place in the league standings with St. Lawrence and Hamilton. Each team finished 6-1 in league play. Rochester is 10-7 overall, 3-4 in the Liberty League. The Yellowjackets finished in fifth place in the league standings.
Rochester took a 1-0 lead just 71 seconds into the match. Case took a penalty corner out of the left side. She played it to Bottcher had the top of the circle. The return pass came back from the right side of the arc and Case tipped it home.
Skidmore evened it at 17:02. Tang played a penalty corner to O’Brien at the top of the arc. Her pass from there was stuffed inside the right post by Britt. The Thoroughbreds moved in front, 2-1, at 43:20. McCarthy collected a penalty corner on right wing and moved around before she passed to O’Brien who scored into the lower left hand corner.
Rochester equalized at 46:02, only to see the Thoroughbreds tie it 20 seconds later. Rochester broke into a counterattack with Dobrynzski feeding Bottcher just inside the circle and she wristed a low shot beyond the reach of Catinella. On Skidmore’s ensuing possession, O’Brien tipped in a pass from Kemp at 46:22.
The Yellowjackets got even one more time – at 53:51. Beardsley was falling down in the circle when she managed to sweep the ball under Catinella and into the back of the net from eight yards away.
Kemp’s gamewinner came on a penalty corner that she inserted. She played the ball to O’Brien who simply returned the pass to the endline and Kemp slotted it past Pearson.
