Paveletz scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter and a one-yard dive in the third quarter for the Crusaders. Susquehanna got two PATs and a 20-yard field goal from Bobby Eppleman. The Crusaders are 4-2 overall, 2-1 in the Liberty League. Rochester is 1-4 overall, 1-2 in the Liberty League.
Rochester’s Clarence Onyiriuka rushed for 154 yards and one TD. He scored with 11:31 left in the first quarter on a three-yard plunge after a 59-yard gain on the play before. Zachary White-Stellato kicked two PATs. The other Yellowjacket touchdown came on a three-yard pass from Braezen Subick to Adam Barrett with 52 seconds left. After the extra point, White-Stellato tried an onside kick, but Susquehanna’s Justin Young covered it at the 40 and the Crusaders knelt twice with the snap.
Subick completed 21 of 39 passes for 175 yards and was intercepted twice. Susquehanna drove 69 yards in nine plays early in the second half to take a 14-7 lead on the one-yard plunge by Paveletz. Rochester drove from its own 41 to the Susquehanna 10 where Subick’s pass was intercepted by Young in the back of the end zone.
In the fourth quarter, Rochester drove 58 yards in a dozen plays to the Susquehanna 27. On second-and-six, Subick was intercepted by Braden Klingler at the 15 and he returned it 60 yards to the Yellowjacket 25. With Paveltz doing the bulk of the ball carrying, the Crusaders moved to the three where Eppleman kicked what turned out to be a clinching field goal with 3:22 left in the game.
Ryan Eck had 14 tackles for the Crusaders. Jalon Scott had nine tackles, including one for a loss, and three breakups. Ed Dauphin led Rochester’s defense with nine tackles and Brendan Pidgeon had eight.
