Scott Greene, one of the most widely recognized and accomplished players in Section V football annals, was named the University's head football coach in May, 2006.

He has made an immediate impact on Rochester's football fortunes. In both 2006 and 2007, he directed the Yellowjackets into the ECAC Northwest Championship football game as conducted by the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Rochester was 7-4 in 2006, its highest win total since 1992. In 2007, the Yellowjackets were 6-5. They reeled off six consecutive wins, the longest winning streak in 15 years.

The Yellowjackets were 5-2 in Liberty League competition in 2007 and finished tied for third place. It is the highest finish since the expansion of the league to eight teams in 2004.

Greene was the Section V Player of the Year at Canandaigua Academy in 1992. He played college football in the Big Ten – matriculating at Michigan State University. He earned four varsity letters for his football skills in East Lansing, MI. As a Spartan, he was a two-time team MVP, set a Michigan State record for receptions by a back, and led the team in scoring, ranking fourth nationally.

Following his collegiate career, Greene was selected in the sixth round of the 1996 National Football League draft by the Carolina Panthers. He established a Carolina record for receptions in a season by a running back and ranked fifth among league backs.

He played with the Indianapolis Colts from 1998-1999 and was the team’s starting fullback in 1998.

Greene joined the Yellowjacket football staff in June, 2005. He coached at McQuaid Jesuit High School from 2002-2004.

Greene is the 31st man to serve as head football coach at the University. Rochester began intercollegiate play in 1889.
