Golf Recruiting

To: Prospective Varsity Golfers
From: Dan Wesley, Golf Coach

I would like to introduce you to the varsity golf program at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Rochester is an NCAA Division III school with an enviable academic reputation and a long and very successful varsity golf program. U.S. News & World Report ranks the University of Rochester number 34 in the nation overall. Our golf program has been represented in 19 of the last 25 NCAA Division III Championships.

Rochester offers undergraduate degrees in arts, sciences, engineering, music, and nursing. Undergraduate enrollment is 4,340 and 90% of entering freshmen are in the upper 25% of their high school graduating class. The student-faculty ratio for undergraduates is 12:1 and 99% of the faculty holds the highest degree in their fields.

No varsity golf program in the country, regardless of division, has a better home facility than the University of Rochester. We practice and play on the two championship courses at Oak Hill Country Club, which just hosted the 2003 PGA Championship. Oak Hill was also the site of the 1956, 1968, and 1989 U.S. Opens, 1980 PGA, 1984 Senior Open, and the 1995 Ryder Cup Matches. Oak Hill hosted the U.S. Amateur in 1949 and 1998. Imagine playing the world famous East Course during your four years here as your home course.

We play a strong tournament schedule on some of the finest courses in the Northeast, such as Taconic, Seven Oaks, Hershey, and Southpointe. Annually, we host five of the top ranked Division III teams in the country at the Kravetz Invitational at two Donald Ross courses here in Rochester: Irondequoit and Oak Hill East.

Each year I am looking for good freshmen to strengthen and improve our program. The ability to consistently score in the mid-70's or better under tournament conditions is required to successfully compete at Rochester.

Please write or give me a call if you are interested in knowing more about the University and varsity golf program. If you are interested in applying, and I hope you are, University information and application forms are available on this web site.

I encourage you to visit our beautiful campus, so we can talk more about a great educational and collegiate golf opportunity. I would appreciate a copy of your golf resume including tournament scores.

Yours truly,

Dan Wesley
