Nelson "Bud" Spies '38

At Rochester:

• A three-year letterman, and captain senior year, for the University's basketball team
• Was the team's scoring leader all three years, and as a senior held the record for most points per game for a long time
• Called the "best player he ever coached" by Coach Lou Alexander
• Class President for last three years, Vice President of the Student Association as a senior
• Graduated from the University in 1938 with a baccalaureate degree in Economics

Post-Graduate:

• Earned an MBA in Sales Management from Harvard Business School in 1940
• Worked for Eastman Kodak Company for two years (1942-1944) before entering military service where he was a naval supply officer stationed in Guam
• He returned to Kodak in 1946 and remained there for 32 years before retiring in 1978 as the Personnel Director of Kodak Office
• Founding Board Member (and first president) of the Rochester Mental Health Center
• Member of Volunteer Alumni Network, a Trustee with St. Thomas More Church, and a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Program and the Rochester Friendly Home
