Scan the coaching resume: Over 800 career games, 532 victories. A national title. Four NCAA Final Four appearances, three in the national championship game. Mike Neer knows success.

As he enters his 33rd season on the Yellowjacket sidelines, Neer’s career record is 532-307 (63.4%). He is Rochester’s winningest coach and guided the Yellowjackets to the school’s 1,000th, 1,100th, and 1,200th all-time basketball victories.

Rochester has competed in the national tournament in six of the last seven seasons, reached the Sweet 16 round three times and the Final Four twice. In 2005, the Yellowjackets advanced to the National Championship Game. The four-year record from 2002-2005 was a gaudy 97-17. It is the best four-year mark in men’s basketball history on the River Campus. The Class of 2005 was the first class to post four consecutive 20-win seasons (24-6, 23-4, 25-2, 25-5) as well as the first class to advance to the tournament every year.

In 2006-07, Neer earned his 500th career coaching victory. His 2007-08 team enjoyed a six-week run as the nation’s top-ranked team.

The NABC selected Neer as the NABC’s Kodak Division III Coach of the Year when he guided Rochester to the 1990 Division III National Championship.

Neer has taken the Yellowjackets to 12 NCAA tournaments: 1981, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008. His record in the NCAA Division III tournament is 25-12 (67.6%), among the highest in NCAA Division III history. The Yellowjackets won the University Athletic Association men’s basketball titles in 2004 and 2005.

He is a 1970 graduate of Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in Sociology where he earned All-Virginia Small College honors. Neer had a summertime tryout with the NBA’s Cincinnati Royals. He received his naval commission after playing briefly in Europe. From 1972-1976, Neer coached the plebe (freshman) team at the U.S. Naval Academy, (41-18 record).

He is the Director of Rochester’s summertime Basketball Camp for boys, 9-17.

Neer earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Rochester in 1988. He and his wife, Connie, are the parents of Tyler, 30, and Cary, 27.

Jim was elevated to the position of full-time men's basketball assistant coach in May, 2009. He joined the Yellowjackets’ staff in 2007-08 after two years at Eastern Connecticut State University. At Eastern Connecticut, Jim was responsible for recruiting, game preparation, and practice organization. During his two years at ECSU, the team improved from 8 wins to 15. He recruited the 2007 Little East Conference Rookie of The Year.

Driggs also spent one year at Union College. With Driggs as a member of the coaching staff, Union qualified for its second NCAA appearance in school history. Driggs recruited a class that won 71 games in four years and made four post-season appearances. He recruited the schools all-time leading scorer.

He graduated from Hamilton College in 2001 with a BA in Government. He was a four-year starter and two-time captain for the men’s basketball team. He qualified for three NCAA tournaments and helped the Continentals advance to the Sweet 16 twice during his four years on the court. He was an all league selection twice and led Division III in assists in 2000-2001.

Driggs currently is taking classes in the Warner School of Education here at the University of Rochester. He and his wife, Colleen, reside in Rochester.

Ryan is well-versed in the success and tradition of the men’s basketball team since he played here over a four-year period before moving into the coaching ranks.

Mee played in four consecutive NCAA tournaments, including two Final Fours (2002, 2005). That string of NCAA appearances included the 2005 national championship game. His class was the first one to win 20 or more games in every season and the first to compete in the NCAAs in every year. He is ranked in the top 10 in career three-point field goals made at Rochester. He captained the Yellowjackets in his senior year.

He earned his baccalaureate degree in economics in 2005. He spent one year as an assistant coach at Hilbert College (2005-06), then moved to Elmira College as an assistant coach for two seasons (2006-08). He was an assistant coach at Skidmore College in 2008-09.

At Skidmore, he assisted in all aspects of coaching, from recruiting coordinator to practice planning, to scouting preparation. He served as assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Elmira. He earned a master’s degree in education from Elmira in 2008 with a certification in coaching.

Mee is a native of Hilton, N.Y.

Begins his 16th year on the coaching staff and his 20th season with the Yellowjacket basketball program... He was graduated from the University in 1988... Earned his master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport in 1996... He earned All-Association honors from the University Athletic Association and in his senior year (1987-88), he was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Chase Scholarship Tournament... Ended his River Campus career ranked third in assists with 445 and was 15th in scoring... Set two University three-point shooting records in his playing days... A native of New York City who played scholastically at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx... Away from the court, he works for the City of Rochester Police Department.
