In a three-team meet at Rochester, Howard won the 100 backstroke (0:54.35) and the 200 backstroke (2:01.71). He was second in the 200 IM (2:04.66) and third in the 400 IM (4:29.05). He also swam on the 400 medley relay (3:41.51) which finished second.
