Antista has been named to the ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District One First Team for men’s track and field and cross country. District One encompasses New England and New York State. He is a native of Havertown, PA and an alumnus of Haverford Township Senior High School. As a First Team honoree, Antista moves on to the national ballot for consideration as an Academic All-American.
He was a four-year letterwinner for the men’s indoor and outdoor track programs. He ran on five ECAC relay teams. During the 2009 indoor season, he helped the 16th-seeded 4x400 meter relay to a fourth place finish at the ECAC Championships.
Away from the cinders, Antista was the track and field representative to the Varsity Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the illustrious international honor society. He was a member of the Golden Key international honor society.
As a junior in 2007-08, Antista received the University’s Mary B. Ascher Prize as the top political science student in the junior class. He was elected to the Theta Alpha Kappa religion honors society and was listed among Who’s Who in the Class of 2009.
He received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research as well as a Dean’s Scholarship. He took part in the National Student Leadership Conference for three straight years. In 2008, Antista worked as an intern on the Midwest Finance Desk for the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C.
Antista was graduated from the University on May 17 with a dual degree in Political Science and Religion and Classics. He had a cumulative grade point average of 3.88 on a 4.00 scale and graduated magna cum laudei. His religion degree came with highest distinction by the faculty.
With distance performers Brian Lang and Dan Chebot coming through in their events, the men's track and field team finished in 35th place overall at the ECAC Championships hosted by Springfield College.[read more]
