Domenick's win in the fifth game puts Rochester into the Potter semifinals - a first!
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Freshman Matt Domenick posted a thrilling 3-2 victory to snap a 4-4 tie and get sixth-seeded Rochester past third-seeded Yale at the College Squash Association quarterfinals.

Rochester's win puts the Yellowjackets into the semifinals against host Princeton University at noon on Saturday in Princeton's Jadwin Gym.

The Tigers, who defeated Rochester, 9-0, on February 1, are the tournament's second seed. Princeton has one loss - a 5-4 decision against top-seeded Trinity College (CT). Yale, which defeated Rochester, 5-4, back in mid-January in New Haven, CT, slides into the consolation bracket against seventh-seeded Pennsylvania.

The other semifinal bracket pairs top-seeded Trinity, a 9-0 winner over eighth-seeded Dartmouth, against fifth-seeded Harvard (which defeated #4 Cornell, 5-4).

There are no surprises in the Potter Cup for Rochester this year. The Yellowjackets played all seven teams in the Potter bracket. Rochester defeated Dartmouth (8-1) and Penn (9-0). The Yellowjackets lost to #1 Trinity (8-1), #2 Princeton, #3 Yale, #4 Cornell (5-4), and #5 Harvard. The Dartmouth, Penn, and Trinity matches were all played at the Peter Lyman Squash Center. The Princeton, Yale, Cornell, and Harvard matches were played on the road.

Rochester fell behind, 4-3, but first string Jim Bristow evened it at 4-4 by jumping out to a 2-0 lead, then winning, 3-1. Domenick split his first two matches, then his next two, before taking the crucial fifth game.

The win boosts Rochester's record to 11-5.
