Hannan's goal, her fourth of the game and 48th of the season, came from a pass by Lindsay Dakin. It was Dakin's 11th assist of the year.
Rochester evened its overall record at 8-8. The Yellowjackets continue their season this Friday in the semifinals of the Liberty League championships at Union College. Rochester plays host Union at noon. Hamilton and William Smith duel in the 2:30 pm match. Winners meet Saturday with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs dangling.
Leslie Dube had 13 saves, nine in the second half, under a furious Ithaca assault. The Bombers outshot Rochester, 35-18. Ithaca converted one of 10 free position opportunities.
Rochester was 2-2 from the arc and the goals came at a crucial time. Ithaca ran to a 5-0 lead in the first 17 minutes. Catherine Hurley scored two of her five goals in the opening blitz.
The Yellowjackets regrouped and challenged. Dakin and Hannan scored 29 seconds apart to make it 5-2. Dakin scored from the free position with 4:14 left in the half and Abby Woodward converted a free position with 3:28 left. It was 5-4.
Hurley scored from the arc with 2:23 left but Hannan set up Danielle Mondro to pull Rochester within 6-5 at the half.
In the first 18 minutes of the second half, it was Rochester's turn to take charge. Woodward scored, Hurley answered, and Woodward scored again. When Hannan got her second of the game with 12:20 left, Rochester had its first lead, 8-7.
Hurley got the Bombers even with 8:57 to go and Hannan replied less than a minute later (9-8 UR). Emily Finn tied the score for Ithaca with 3:09 left. That set it up for the dramatic finale.
Hannan finished with four goals and one assist. Woodward had three goals. Dakin had two goals and two assists. Mondro scored once.
