
All three women were named to the Empire Region Team which emcompasses New York State. Voting was conducted by members of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Rochester was 8-8 in the regular season this year (8-9 overall) and competed in the first round of the Liberty League playoffs. It was Rochester’s first-ever Liberty League playoff berth in women’s lacrosse.
Between them, Dakin, Hannan, and Woodward combined for 141 goals and 25 assists. Dakin led the team in scoring with 50 goals, 11 assists for 61 points. Hannan scored 50 goals, had nine assists, and 59 points. Woodward was third with 41 goals, five assists for 46 points.
Hannan (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Bros. Academy) had four gamewinning goals and Dakin had two. Hannan scored in the third overtime as Rochester won at Oneonta, then scored in the final second of the game when the Yellowjackets nipped Ithaca, 10-9, in the regular season finale. She scored a career high seven goals as Rochester defeated Vassar, 19-13, to clinch a Liberty League playoff berth in the last home game of the season. For the season, she had 18 ground balls, won 11 draw controls, and caused seven turnovers. She was successful on eight of 17 free position shots.
Dakin (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) was 10 of 28 on free position shots. She collected 22 ground balls, won 33 draw controls, and caused four turnovers. In the 19-13 win over Vassar, she scored six goals.
Woodward (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) converted nine of 14 from the free position. She had 30 ground balls, won 26 draws, and caused 17 turnovers.
Earlier this spring, Woodward was named First Team All-Liberty League and Dakin was chosen to the Second Team.
Marlena Fisher, who earned eight varsity letters between women’s basketball and women’s lacrosse, received the Sylvia Fabricant Award from the Department of Athletics and Recreation. [read more]
