Four members of the University of Rochester’s women’s swimming and diving team have been named to the Scholar All-America team by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.

Additionally, the men’s and women’s teams at Rochester have earned the CSCAA’s Team Scholar All-America award for cumulative grade point average. The Rochester women had a cumulative 3.37 GPA on a 4.00 scale and the men’s team had a cumulative 3.19 GPA.

Individuals qualify for the Scholar All-America honor by attaining two goals: they must post an NCAA qualifying time in their event (automatic or provisional) and they must reach a GPA of 3.50 or higher. That GPA qualification can either be for the semester of the award or a cumulative GPA.

The four women named as Scholar All-Americans are Val Atwood (Rockford, Ill.), Cailee Caldwell (Eagle River, Alaska), Olivia Ehmann (Ambler, Penn.), and Dayna Jacob (Cascade, Trindad). Atwood, Caldwell, and Jacob are sophomores. Ehmann is a freshman. Atwood transferred to the University from Gettysburg College.

Rochester’s women finished fifth at the University Athletic Association championships. The women were second at the Liberty League championships. The men’s team finished seventh at the UAA Championships and third at the Liberty League championships.

The Yellowjackets will host the 2009 Liberty League championships on December 4-5.
