
All three matches went to tiebreakers. Schmidt won the first set, 7-6 (7-3). Weiner answered with a 7-6 (7-1) win in set two to even it. In the third set, Schmidt turned the trick, with an identical 7-6 (7-1) victory over Weiner.
This was Weiner’s second straight appearance at the ITA Nationals. She earned the right to play in Mobile after winning the ITA Regionals at William Smith College at the end of September.
