POUGHKEPSIE, N.Y. - Rochester bounced back from a 3-2 loss to Fredonia at the Vassar College Invitational to down Sage College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Alma Guevara, who produced 62 kills in four matches, represented the Yellowjackets on the All-Tournament Team. Rochester was 2-2 in the tourney, losing to Vassar, beating Stevens, losing to Fredonia, and downing Sage. The first three of Rochester's matches went to five sets.

In Saturday's action, Fredonia won the first set, 25-22, but Rochester evened it with a 25-23 win in set two. The Blue Devils took the third set, 25-14. After Rochester produced another 25-23 win to even it at 2-2, Fredonia won the tiebreaker, 15-13.

Kelly Mulrey had 14 kills and Guevara had 12 for Rochester. Elizbeth Landzberg had two blocks. Rachel Bender compiled 39 assists. Lauren Bujnicki had 17 digs and Katie Drinkwater had 15.

The Yellowjackets downed Sage, 25-17, 25-16, 35-33. That last set marked the second time in the tournament that Rochester needed 35 points to pull out the win.

Emily Hunter had 12 kills for Rochester. Mulrey had seven kills and four aces. Guevara had seven kills. Bujnicki had 12 digsd and Drinkwater dug 24 balls. Bender added 33 assists. Diamante Hill had three blocks as did Allyson Blair.

Rochester is 16-17 heading into Tuesday's home match vs. St. John Fisher.
