This new navigation tool is available all the time in the top right corner of the Learn interface and provides one-click access to your Courses, Organizations, Settings, Blackboard Help, and the new My Blackboard tools. Your courses will be listed first - as you start using your courses, the recently visited ones will rise to the top. At the bottom of the menu, Settings will open your user preferences (text size/contrast settings, personal information, notification settings). The building icon on the bottom left will take you to the Main tab, and the question mark will take you to UR Blackboard help.
You can see the new My Blackboard tools going down the left-hand side of the menu in the screenshot below. And the numbers in red tell you if there’s something that’s new or needs your attention.
1: My Blackboard Home - shows aggregated calendar events and posts
2: Posts - The Posts tool consolidates posts from all of your courses and organizations – so posts from Discussion Boards, Journals, Wikis, and Blogs – as well as the comments and replies to those posts. With the different filters, you can look at all posts, just those that directly involve you, or you can choose to only look at posts from one particular Course or Organization.
3: Updates - This tool updates you on course announcements, when content is added, when an assignment or assessment is due, and much more. And educators can also see when assignments and assessments need grading. There are filters so you can look at all Notifications at once, only those from one particular Course or Organization, or just all Course Announcements. You can also change your notification preferences and pick exactly what you want to show up in this tool.
4: Retention Center (instructors only) - The Retention Center provides an easy way for you to discover which students in your course are at risk. (Replaces Early Warning System)
5: Calendar - The calendar displays a consolidated view of all institution, course, organization, and personal calendar events for a user. You can view events by day, week, or month. You can also view and organize upcoming and past events into categories.
6: My Grades (students only - not shown) - Provides access to all of your grades from across all of your courses – viewable by date (so you can always see the latest grades you’ve received across Blackboard) or by course (so you can see all the grades you’ve received for each course, as well as any assignments or assessments that have been submitted or are upcoming for the course).
